Steven D. Cook, DDS
Dr. Cook grew up in Santa Maria, California where his father still practices dentistry. He attended Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Cook is a member of the Capital Area Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, listening to live music, and outdoor sports. -
Tony Lere, DDS
Dr. Lere was raised in northern Colorado by his mother, a hygienist, and his father, a chemistry and biology teacher. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in Denver. Dr. Lere also completed a one year advanced education residency in general dentistry at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital. He is a member of the Capital Area Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Lere and his wife stay active through running, biking, and swimming.
Our Practice's History
Our dental practice has been in Austin over 50 years. It was started by B. Brooks Goldsmith, DDS in the Capital National Bank building after he returned from serving our country in the military. In the early 70's, Brooks and some other Austin dentists built the building where we are still located. It became known as the 'Golden Molar' due to the shiny gold-tinted windows and the number of dentists that practiced in it. Unfortunately, the windows were replaced recently with transparent windows, so we're not sure what to call ourselves any longer.
Morton Krumholz, DDS was one Brooksí longtime friends and colleagues. He practiced in the suite next door until the late 90's and then he joined Brooks in our suite. Carpal tunnel symptoms forced him to retire from dentistry in 2009.
Dr. Steven Cook joined the practice in 2006, relocating from Seattle where he owned a dental practice. He took over ownership of the practice shortly thereafter.
Dr. Tony Lere joined the practice in 2011, relocating from San Antonio, where he completed an advanced residency at the VA Hospital and worked in private practice.
Our practice has a long history of serving the citizens of central Texas and we look forward to doing so for many more years.
Our Practice's Mission
At Austin City Dental, we strive to establish and maintain the highest level of health, function, and esthetics possible. We value the trust of our patients and commit to treating them like family. Our goal is to make each patient interaction a comfortable and positive experience.
In addition to providing exceptional care to our patients, our team gives back to the community. We volunteer with the St. David's Foundation, provide dental services to musicians through HAAM, and provide services to the underserved citizens of the Austin area.
