We see quite a few patients with dental anxiety and phobias, ranging from mild to severe. If you have some dental anxiety or nervousness, please know that you are not alone by any stretch of the imagination! Colgate reports that an estimated “9% to 15% of Americans avoid seeing the dentist because of anxiety and fear,” which is “about 30 million to 40 million people”. We saw this article posted by the American Dental Association with some tips on how to overcome or manage this anxiety/phobia, and wanted to share in hopes that it might be helpful – check it out here.
Feel free to talk with us about what else we can do to make your visit(s) less anxiety-inducing. For those of you that don’t know, we offer Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) and oral sedation if ever interested, and always have headphones and an iPod loaded with music to help put you at ease.
